Who we are

Award-winning writer, editor, journalist, filmmaker and content strategist. Beschloss is a Professor of Practice with a joint appointment from the College of Global Futures and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He is the Founding Director of the Narrative Storytelling Initiative across the university, leads the Narratives focus of the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory, and is a Senior Global Futures Scholar.

Director of the Melikian Center: Russian, Eurasian and East European Studies, and professor in the School of Politics and Global Studies at Arizona State University. He holds a PhD in anthropology from the University of Chicago and a BA in classics from Oxford University, and his work focuses on history, culture and politics in the Western Balkans, with a particular emphasis on 20th century Macedonia.

Director of the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict and associate professor of religious studies. A scholar of religious ethics, his research explores how religious and moral inquiry informs and invigorates our understanding of political life. He has written on issues of war and peace, religion and violence, justice and human rights, democracy and civic life, and a variety of social and political issues, both domestic and international.

As assistant director of the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, Carolyn helps develop and coordinate multidisciplinary research projects that address complex issues of religion and conflict in global affairs. With degrees in religious studies and industrial and labor relations, her research interests include the study of religion, race, identity and law. She has taught courses on religion and conflict in American religious history and women and religion.

Sociologist and associate professor in the School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University. Here he directs the Center for Work and Democracy, addressing the exclusion of working people from the polity and the marginalization of their voices in their communities and workplaces. In particular, the Center is concerned with the institutional, organizational, and political dimensions of marginalization and empowerment.

Managing Director of ASU Media Enterprise and Professor for Media Innovation and Leadership at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Parrish is president and CEO of MAP Strategies Group, based in Phoenix. She also served as market president at USA Today Network, where the team won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for “The Wall,” a multi-layered, multi-media examination of the southern border with Mexico.
