Submit your story

Have you experienced or witnessed an attack on democracy in your community? Have you witnessed an effort to push back against anti-democratic efforts?

We want to hear about your experience.

Submit a 150–400 word story or a 1–2 minute video describing your encounter with anti-democratic forces in your community. Your submission will be used to guide academics who are researching and writing about the current reality and future of democracy. Select stories will become part of a larger project, sharing the results on this webpage and in other media forms.

Share your story

Fields with asterisks (*) are required for submission. We appreciate your willingness to share your contact information with us. It will only be used by the project team to contact you, if necessary.

If your work is selected for publication in any form, you will be notified by a team member and asked to sign a publication agreement. We understand that your story is personal, so if it is chosen for publication, you will be given the option to have your work shared anonymously.
